What's new in Exhibit Room

Changed

• The Exhibit Room mark shown in the presentation footer on an unlicensed copy is larger and brighter, so it can be read from across a courtroom. It still never covers the document.

Added

• The app tells you when an update is ready. Shortly after it starts, Exhibit Room looks for a new version once and, if there is one, shows a line above the trial library and the exhibit manager with "Install and restart", "What's new" and "Later". Nothing installs on its own, and nothing appears while you are presenting.

Changed

• Settings redesigned. The page now uses the width of the window, with a section list down the side that follows you as you scroll. Keyboard shortcuts have their own section with the keys drawn as keycaps, and the data folder and device id sit on their own line so a long path is never cut off. Version and updates live together under Updates.

Added

• A keyboard reference you can keep on screen. Press ? while presenting or in the exhibit manager and the full shortcut list stays up until you press ? or Esc again. The keys keep working underneath it, so you can look and try at the same time. The presentation controls strip and the exhibit manager toolbar have a Shortcuts button that does the same.
• What's new in Settings. Settings → Updates has a "What's new" button that opens this changelog.
• Exhibit Room mark during the trial. While a copy is unlicensed, a small Exhibit Room mark sits in the presentation footer next to the page counter. It never covers the document, and it goes away when a license is activated.

Added

• Zoom like every other app. Ctrl/Cmd + mouse wheel and trackpad pinch zoom around the pointer, both while preparing and while presenting. Ctrl/Cmd + =, - and 0 work in both places too.
• In presentation, ↑ and ↓ zoom in and out, a small badge shows the zoom level while it changes, and a magnified page can be dragged to pan.

• The shortcut reference in Settings lists the new zoom keys.

Added

• Live presentation tools. Draw on the exhibit while you present: pen (P), highlight (H), arrow (A), rectangle (R), a laser pointer (L) and zoom callouts (C) that magnify an area you drag. Marks are per exhibit and per session — they are gone when you switch exhibit or leave presentation — with undo, redo, Backspace to remove the last mark and X to clear the page. Ctrl/Cmd + S saves a page's marks to the exhibit as ordinary annotations. The original PDF is never modified.
• An auto-hiding tool strip in presentation, a one-line hint the first three times you present, and the live-tool keys in the Settings shortcut list.
• The macOS build is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other application.

• Edit an exhibit's number, name and description after import.
• Anonymous usage statistics, on by default with a one-click opt-out in Settings → General. Nothing about your documents or cases is ever sent.
• Guides, feature pages, templates and a glossary on exhibitroom.app.

Fixed

• Exhibits were lost when a trial was re-saved on the desktop app. Saving is now an upsert and never cascades a delete.
• PDFs could open to a blank viewer on macOS. The desktop app now hands the viewer the file bytes directly, and a file that cannot be opened says so with a Retry.
• Long text no longer pushes a dialog off screen.
• One universal macOS download for Apple Silicon and Intel.

• Exhibits with a number, name, description, status and one PDF each; drag-and-drop import, reorder, rename, replace, duplicate, delete.
